Alcatel-Lucent to Use Corning Hardened Connectors
Posted on 06.06.07

Corning Cable Systems has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Alcatel-Lucent to supply the company with its environmentally hardened connector and adapter for use in Alcatel-Lucent’s gigabit passive optical network (GPON) system.

The Corning Cable Systems OptiTap Connector and Adapter provide the ideal solution for factory-terminated, environmentally sealed and hardened connectors for use in drop cable deployments in optical access networks. The hardened connector significantly reduces the terminal and drop cable installation time for subscriber connection, thereby reducing the total installed cost of deployment.
