Ikanos Communications has announced that it is entering the \Gigabit Passive Optical Network (GPON)-based Fiber to the Home (FTTH) market. Ikanos has licensed  GPON physical (PHY) layer technology with Ethernet Layer 2 functionality from Terawave Communications. Ikanos will use Terawave’s ITU-compliant GPON PHY technology to develop a  GPON residential gateway reference platform.
