John Quist, vice president of Dutch carrier KPN, had the following comment in an interview: “We’re transforming to a full IP network,” Quist explained. “This will involved a combination for fibre to the kerb (FTTK) and fibre to the home (FTTH). FTTH will be done with newbuild homes and business parks while in existing homes and buildings we will look at FTTK using VDSL technology.” He said that once KPN has finalised its migration it will no longer need central operations and can sell off real-estate. “All services we have now and that are considered the traditional mainstay of telecom operators such as voice will migrate to IP. Traditional telephony as we know it won’t exist after the transformation.” Filed under: Business and Technology Comments: No Comments »No comments yet. RSS feed for comments on this post.
